Cashmere Home has a relaxed, yet vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Residents tell us they enjoy the home-like environment, strong community connections and fantastic recreation programme – Cashmere Home is known for its fantastic cultural days and special events.
The Cashmere Home team is committed to ensuring the elders of Cashmere Home have top quality healthcare, as well as companionship, spontaneity, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose in their lives.
Cashmere Home is one of just a few aged care facilities in New Zealand with full Eden Alternative certification – the internationally recognised elder-directed model of care. It first received certification in 2014 when only one other New Zealand home had reached this pinnacle of elder-directed care.
Cashmere Home also have 3-year Ministry of Health certification. To achieve certification the homes underwent a rigorous audit process which looked at a multitude of things, including the way residents are cared for, how staff interact with the residents, how policies and procedures are followed and applied, documentation standards and time frames, the general environment as well as the satisfaction levels of residents, families and staff.
Your place. Your space.
Residents of Cashmere Home are invited to make this home their home. You can even go to breakfast in your dressing gown if you like!
We also encourage you to set up your room just how you like it. Bring along your own familiar things that make you feel right at home (even your cat can come!).
Many residents bring items such as photographs, artwork, ornaments, bed covers and even favourite pieces of furniture.
Like any family home, at Cashmere Home there are great shared spaces, including lounges, gardens and courtyards. Residents and their visitors use these spaces whenever they like, to socialise, do activities and host visitors.

The staff are very caring people. Every resident, no matter age or disability, is treated equally as a nurtured and special person.
Chris
The staff are lovely. My daughter rang and asked if I could move to be closer to her, but I didn’t want to because I’ve settled in well here. There’s always someone to talk to.
Shirley
Warmth permeates the whole place. It’s a place of mates. That’s the nature of this place – I feel at home here. My wife and visitors are always welcomed too.
Thomas
We get together once a week for beer and chips and discuss what’s happening in the world. It’s like what you’d do in the pub on a Friday night.
